Kiran Dhaliwal - 50 Women of Options

For 15 years, Kiran Dhaliwal worked in human resources and for the past five years has been involved with politics at the federal and provincial level. As an active member of the community who believes in supporting others through volunteerism, Kiran aims to inspire her two young sons to find ways of contributing to the community by establishing positive examples through her ongoing community work.

Kiran served on the PICS Board and was able to fundraise for the PICS long term care facility as well as their women’s transition home, Harmony House. Kiran continues to support Harmony house not only in a fundraising capacity but she uses her HR expertise to help women update their resumes, job hunting, and prepares them for interviews.

She also hosts her annual “Back To School Supply Drive,” collecting backpacks and school supplies to help children in the Whalley and Langley communities who need help.

This project is a personal challenge to Kiran, to step out and raise awareness and money for an important cause. This is her way of helping, and recognizing the efforts Options has taken over the years to help people in need. She is quite confident it can be done.

“There is a critical need for youth support in Surrey and I am very excited to be a part of this and to work closely with the voices and experiences of the other women who have joined to make this happen.”
