Options Community Services receives donation from Country Music Star Dallas Smith

Options Community Services is pleased to announce a $30,000 gift to our Women of Options 2022: Gamechangers Fund, for at-risk youth, from the Lifted Dallas Smith Charitable Foundation.

This gift was brought to us through Rebecca Darnell, one of our fifty Women of Options 2022. Lifted is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring that mental health services are accessible to anyone and everyone in need. Dallas Smith has been open about his own experience with mental health challenges.

A multiple JUNO and CCMA Award winning entertainer, Dallas Smith is one of the most celebrated artists in Canadian country music. Amassing eighteen Canadian Gold-certified singles, four Canadian Gold-certified albums, and seven Canadian Platinum-certified singles along with more than 500 MILLION collective streams to date and 2 MILLION global album equivalents, Smith is also the first and only Canadian country artist in the Nielsen BDS era to have eleven #1 singles, and closed out 2019 as the most played artist (domestic/international) in Canadian country radio for the year.

Adding to the list of accolades, Smith is the sole Canadian country artist in the Nielsen BDS and Mediabase era to earn eleven #1 songs in history and have twenty two consecutive singles peak in the Top 10 of the country airplay chart. Smith is the three-time CCMA Award winner for Entertainer of the Year (2019/2020/2021), continuing to set the bar high for Country music in all that he does.

In 2021, Smith launched the Lifted Dallas Smith Charitable Foundation – a non-profit organization committed to ensuring that mental health services are accessible to anyone and everyone in need.

At Options Community Services, our 600 plus staff and 80 plus programs serve a broad base of individuals and families in the South Fraser area. Thankfully, these programs are primarily funded by various levels of government, but as we are constrained in how we can use funds to support young people in our communities, we need a fund set aside for unique and vital youth needs. Last year, we served over 3500 youth in the region

Women of Options 2022:Gamechangers was launched to address the urgent issues of young people when they find themselves without financial means or support to address their needs. Young people who do not qualify for specific, funded care are particularly vulnerable. This fund will address the unique needs of youth who find themselves in vulnerable positions and require our help.

We are so thankful to Dallas Smith for his generous contribution and to the fifty local women who are fundraising for the cause.

Dallas Smith kicks off his next tour Some Things Never Change in May, 2022, with several stops in British Columbia.
